Retreats · Brazil

Brazil is not a backdrop

It's the first thing that welcomes you when you land, and the last thing you carry home.

Why here

A place that still lives

There are places built to receive tourists, and places that simply happen to receive people from elsewhere. Pipa is the second kind. The sandy streets, the ocean warm all year, the dolphins that show up in the morning with no schedule, none of it was designed to impress. It is there because that is what the place is like.

Brazil was the first place Vai con (C)alma chose, and it is no accident, it is where the brand itself was born. There are other destinations ahead for the house, but none of them will replace what Brazil teaches first: that music plays loud in the street, food is made fresh, and people strike up conversation without ceremony. It is impossible to spend a week here as a spectator.

Conscious travel

You don't come here to watch Brazil from a distance

Our retreats happen with the place, not despite it. You eat in the street, hear another language, dance to live music, get to know the village by day and by night. There is no tour bus taking you from attraction to attraction. There is a full week inside the real life of Pipa, with enough time to stop being a visitor.

On the ground

What you'll find here

The Northeast's ocean is warm and generous all year round, the kind of water that invites you in without a second thought. Pipa's red cliffs drop straight into white sand, and the sun sets behind them almost every day with no cloud in the way. Dolphins swim close to the main beach with a regularity that still surprises first time visitors.

And then there is the life around it. Tropical fruit you have never tasted, music that spills out of a simple bar and turns into a samba circle nobody planned. The local people, who Gisella and Oriana know by name, and who are as much a part of the retreat as any scheduled practice.

  • Ocean warm all year round
  • Dolphins, cliffs, dunes
  • Real food, music and street life
  • Local people, not tourism actors
On now

Brazil today, and what comes next

The first Vai con (C)alma retreat happens entirely in Pipa. Surf with a local school, samba, street food, evenings that carry on after dinner. It is the fullest experience we have today of how Brazil enters one of our retreats, and the house will grow toward other destinations over time. For now, this is where the experience truly exists, alive and tested.
